Word of the Year
Every year I'm challenged to think of a "word" for the new year. It's not some magical word that *poof* will change everything, but perhaps a way to change my mindset as I look towards a new year. I'm always stumped, however, thinking of my word.
Before I share my word, here is a compilation my friends' words for the year:
- Exciting
- JOY
- Exhale
- Peace
- Thrive
- Invest
- Resplendent
- Trust
- Unhurried
- Surrender
- Content
- Intentional
- Delight
- Soar
- Persist
- Grow
- Everything
- Faithful
- Teachable
- Seek
- Balance
- Strong
These words inspire and excite me since the new year often brings hope with the feeling of a clean slate.
I feel like my "word" this year seems trite in comparison to some of these lofty ones, however here it is... LESS. Less social media, less time on my phone, less time wasting, less negativity, less frustration, less junk and clutter, less distraction, less exhaustion, less food & sugar, less work (Rachel disagreed to that one!)
And while I'm thinking of "less," I know in turn I need to add "more." More time in the Word, more Bible memorization, more moments of quiet and stillness, more gratitude, and lots more grace--basically better use of my time.
Thinking of the word has actually motivated me to make some big changes this year.
Perhaps you are pondering this year ahead. Are you anticipating or dreading it? Have you thought of a word for the year? We would love to hear your thoughts!
Until next time, grace, peace, and rest to you!
Joy!
