Sharing Love Through Hospitality

And with a snap of the fingers, January is gone! It feels like I was just pondering resolutions and breaking them! February is a sweet month for me because not only is Valentine’s Day here but my dad’s birthday and my parent’s 60th anniversary are in February! So when I think of February, I definitely think of love!

When you think of sharing love with others, what comes to your mind? Gift giving? Letter writing? Making a meal? Giving chocolate?! What about opening up your home? I definitely consider hospitality my way to show others love. On an average week, I entertain 3-4 times a week in my home. Seriously, that's crazy now that I think about it, but I enjoy having people over. My hope is that friends feel cozy in our home and know they are loved.

We all have different ways to share love in our home. Here are some of our favorites:

• Entertaining With Food

Let's face it, if you live in the South, food is always at a celebration and sharing food is the same as sharing love! February is a fun time to have friends over with the big football game and Valentine's Day with your gals. 

• Welcoming Overnight Guests

Taking extra care in the little things is a big deal: it lets your guests know "we're glad you're here; enjoy your visit with us." Make your guest room and bath feel like a mini spa experience: add fluffy pillows and towels, fresh linens, a stocked bathroom with all necessities, finishing with a devotional and lovely candle by the bed. 

• Celebrating Every Day

Celebrating doesn't have to be for big occasions like birthdays or baby showers.  Celebrate the 100th day of school, a snow day, the premier of your favorite tv show (Survivor), or that your grandbaby started crawling! God is good and life is worth celebrating.

When we show hospitality, we’re showing the love of God. It can be as simple as inviting a friend over for hot tea on a cold day; making a plate of cookies for a neighbor; or having chili with friends and watching a game on tv together. By being together, you're letting others know they're loved.
